Ealing NHS

By Mick Brooks

Just a day before the Ealing Day of Action to save local hospitals, we got the news: A & Es at Ealing, Charing Cross, Central Middlesex and Hammersmith are planned to close. Activists were undaunted; we knew the consultation was a sham.

On Saturday February 16 no less than four stalls opened up in the centre of Ealing. They were supplemented by a puppet show and street theatre. Four coffins representing the hospitals arrived. Jeremy Hunt flogged off health care facilities to vampires like Virgin and Sainsbury’s for less than a fiver (Boo!). Finally a stake was driven into his rotten heart (Hooray!)

The day of action concluded with an enthusiastic rally by the Town Hall. We fight on.
